Bisate Lodge is located in the natural amphitheater of an eroded volcanic cone – in Kinyarwanda, the word bisate means ‘pieces’ describing how the once-whole cone was worn away by natural erosion. Six luxurious suites encompass warmth, comfort and panoramic views whilst retaining the environmental principles and culture of Rwanda.
The main lodge is a timber, stone, and thatch building, with wide windows on to the park. It has two storeys and is divided into three separate compartments, each with a domed roof. We are pretty sure that these three roofs are intended to honour three of the park’s volcanoes – Bisoke, Karisimbi, and Mikeno.
