The Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge enjoys a most spectacular location on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, East Africa.
Beautifully set around the Crater rim, each of the rooms features their rock-enclosed balcony. The rooms are well appointed with traditional Maasai carvings making for an African setting. The rooms enjoy uninterrupted vistas over the Crater.
This lodge is part of the Serena hotel chain and is much the most impressive of the three Serena hotels in the area, combining a great design with a magnificent location. It is a good place to stay for families and those who prefer this sort of hotel to a more typical safari camp.
It is modeled on a nearby prehistoric site. The 75 rooms are built out of rock along the crater rim and each has a balcony giving absolutely stunning views out over the volcanic crater below. The buildings are linked by arched stone passages, while the walls are decorated with prehistoric cave paintings. A permanent fire glows in the rock dining room and flares light the way between the rooms. This is a truly unique lodge.

NGORONGORO SERENA SAFARI LODGE
STUNNING LOCATION OVERLOOKING THE NGORONGORO CRATER
Serena’s Ngorongoro Safari Lodge sits on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater with spectacular views of the Crater below. Long and low, it has been cleverly designed to tone in with the landscape, using local stone from the river, and camouflaged with indigenous creepers. The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation nestles adjacent to the well known Serengeti National Park about 180 kilometers away from the town of Arusha. The transfers from Arusha will take approximately 4 hours; an airstrip is available for guests who wish to fly directly to the lodge.
