As well as game drives and guided walks you’ll sail on Lake Tanganyika in a traditional dhow and spend magical time with a group of wild chimpanzees.

SEE REGIONS OF TANZANIA THAT FEW PEOPLE VISIT

This is  11 days safari, limited to 18 people. While the Serengeti is a household word, and many travelers have heard about the legendary safari experiences available in Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park, few are aware that Tanzania’s largest and equally impressive wildlife sanctuaries are found far off these well-trodden routes, in the remote south and west of the country.

With A2A Safari you will discover “Hidden Tanzania” on the Southern Circuit, for an unusual safari experience you won’t find anywhere else!

A small group is essential for optimal wildlife viewing. We generally have the smallest group sizes in the safari industry, though we take a maximum of approximately 18 on this trip, divided into several vehicles. Small groups mean we get closer to the herds, get better photos, and enjoy more personalized interaction with our Expedition Leader.

A WINDOW SEAT FOR EVERY TRAVELER

We guarantee a window seat for every guest. Whereas many safari operators use crowded mini-buses, and even luxury operators often utilize every seat, including middles, we know how important unimpeded views are when you’ve come all this way to see and photograph the migration. That’s why we split our group into separate vehicles, each guest with a guaranteed window seat.

This itinerary is centered round the all-important water sources, where hundreds of animals gather to drink, while lions and hyenas watch, biding their time.

About an hour flight from Dar -es-salaam, your safari starts in Ruaha National Park, a park with dramatic landscapes including savannah, wooded hills and centuries-old baobab trees. This is raw Africa, a true wilderness where you’ll see giraffe, elephant, zebra and buffalo in abundance, and whose waters support hippo and crocodile.

Due west, Katavi National Park is so remote that few people have the chance to visit. You’ll have 3 full days here to experience this wild region, with its seasonal rivers and floodplains. After these sweeping plains you’ll be whisked off to Lake Tanganyika to enjoy restful dhow cruises, kayak trips and forest walks.

CLIMATE

Eastern Africa, classically presented as a major dry climate anomaly region in the otherwise wet equatorial belt, is a transition zone between the monsoon domains of West Africa and the Indian Ocean. Its complex terrain, unequaled in the rest of Africa, results in a huge diversity of climatic conditions that steer a wide range of vegetation landscapes, biodiversity and human occupations.
